Tucked down a quiet lane near beautiful Es Trenc beach is the pretty estate of Amapola.
In spacious country surrounds, a collection of immaculate pale yellow buildings nestle at one end of an impressive sparkling blue swimming pool. The whole estate is surrounded by lush greenery and blooming flowers, and with large windows and pale walls, the buildings feel light, airy and fresh. Amapola means poppies, and in the spring the surrounding fields are blanketed with red poppies.
Only opened in 2002 by a friendly young couple, Nicole and Jörg, the décor throughout all the spacious rooms, apartments and houses is welcoming and contemporary, with neutral shades and rattan furniture interspersed with bright, bold paintings. All the accommodations have a sense of privacy, with their own lounges (complete with an array of luxury mod cons), terraces and in some cases their own pools! Guests here can enjoy the best of both worlds – the space and independence of their own house or apartment with all the conveniences of a hotel.
The light flooded dining room is simple yet elegant with contemporary furnishings, clay floors and bright walls. There’s an equally stylish dining terrace, shaded throughout the summer by a huge white awning. Looking out onto the 20m2 pool, this is the main place of activity, with a leisurely breakfast served until midday, and snacks and drinks throughout the afternoon.
The ample poolside terrace is backed by greenery and is dotted with modern loungers and pale parasols. Surrounded by countryside, it’s a great place to sunbathe or take a dip in the large pool. When a few laps of the pool doesn’t seem enough activity, Amapola has it’s own driving range, a running track and a boules area! There’s also a maze of country lanes to explore by foot or bike, and nearby, there’s the large expanse of Es Trenc beach to enjoy.
All houses, apartments and rooms have air-conditioning, heating, DVD-CD player, Satellite TV, telephone.
On reservation, directions will be sent to you. Located about 30 minutes south drive from Palma airport between Campos and the coast. The area is flat agricultural land and is about 4km to Campos, and 5km to Colonial Sant Jordi.
The south has a great selection of beaches. The best beach on the island Es Trenc offers four kilometres of white sand and blue sea backed by dunes and a natural park. Platja d’es Dolc next to Colonial de Sant Jordi is the first of a string of attractive beaches such as Es Caragol that can be reached by foot. The most beautiful sandy coves on the island are also in this region – Cala Mondrago, Cala S’Amonia and Cala Llombards.
Laid back resort of Colonial Sant Jordi and small traditional towns of Campos and Santanyi.
