La Residencia is an exclusive haunt of royalty, rock stars & Hollywood A-listers. This hotel is the crème de la crème of hotels, and has been showered with deserved awards since its opening.
Previously owned by Richard Branson, this truly romantic and glamorous retreat is situated in the equally charming village of Deia. Set in a dramatic landscape, La Residencia nestles between the impressive craggy Tramuntana mountains and the calming deep blue sea.
Its magical setting is ideal for complete relaxation, and as guests are so well provided for and pampered, many don’t stray too far. La Residencia offers top of the range spa and beauty treatments, sports facilities and there's even a personal fitness trainer or tennis coach on hand.
As would be expected, the cuisine is highly acclaimed. The restaurant El Olivo is reputedly one of the finest in Spain, due to its romantic setting, top notch food and extensive wine list. For those wanting culinary variety, the hotel also has the more relaxed Son Fony and a poolside restaurant. Whilst just outside the grounds, the village has a good collection of recommended eateries and bars.
Picturesque Deia is the perfect village to play host to La Residencia’s guests, with its quaint honey stone cobbled streets, glorious views and well heeled residents. For those fancying a dip in the sea, there’s a charming shingle cove with beach bar. Or guests can further explore the sea and dramatic coast by private yacht or catamaran arranged via reception.

Deia is a magical place inhabited by artists, writers and the wealthy. The writer Robert Graves is famed for living here. The village sits strikingly on a hillside between the rising mountains and the sea. The village has a laid back bohemian feel with a selection of good restaurants and bars. Just a 20 minute walk from the village is a pebbled beach cove with a charming bar which provides a good place to swim and relax in a dramatic setting.
Walking/Hiking - This area is ideal if you enjoy walking or hiking. The Tramuntana mountain range is a hikers paradise and there many good walks at all levels around Mount Galatzo. Details can be found in the Sunflower Edition 'Landscapes of Mallorca' or 'Mallorca Mountains'.
Valldemossa is set at the top of a picturesque valley. The highlight here is the royal monastery – the Reial Cartoixa made famous by George Sand and Frederic Chopin. Due to its close proximity to Palma, Valldemossa does attract the day trippers however the town still retains its charm and is featured on many postcards.
