If you’re looking for something a little different, this hotel, restaurant and bar is definitely worth a look. Set in the medieval town of Arta, Sant Salvador is situated on a hilltop right under the castle and the Santuari de Sant Salvador, and within a short walk of the town centre.
The hotel has an impressive modernista exterior (local rumour has it that it was designed by Gaudi) and an equally unconventional interior. Inside, the owner, Christopher, has blended bold colour schemes with restored old treasures. The decor is certainly unusual and the result gives a relaxed and warm atmosphere. At the front of the hotel is a walled Mediterranean garden with a swimming pool and several spacious terraces.
Sant Salvador offers a sense of seclusion and a place to relax in the heart of Arta with it's restaurants, bars and historical sites. The hotel restaurant C’an Epifano (the original name of the house) is also a popular choice, and creates imaginative dishes from fresh Mallorquin ingredients. Arta's location is ideal for golf and beach lovers with several courses in the region and some of the best unspoilt Mallorcan beaches not far away.
The hotel has eight very individual bedrooms equally divided between the two upstairs floors. Every room has its own charm and each floor follows an artistic theme.
All first floor rooms are named after old paintings that were found in the house before its transition. Each room is decorated to incorporate the ancient art work with bold colours and classical furnishings.
The top floor rooms have a more modern feel as contemporary art works and unusual furnishings style each of the four rooms.
All rooms are equipped with central heating, air-conditioning, Satellite TV, safe deposit, telephone and a mini-bar. Six of the rooms have terrace or balcony.
Stay for 7 nights and pay for 6, or stay for 14 nights and pay for 12 nights.
On reservation, directions will be sent to you. Located in Arta's old town, Sant Salvador is about a 60km easy drive from Palma airport (main road via Manacor). It's within 15kms of some very good beaches and golf courses.
Sant Salvador's ancient hill town of Arta sits against the dramatic backdrop of the rolling Serres de Llevant mountains. The town is a maze of steep alleys and streets that lead up to the hill top chapel of Santuari de Sant Salvador (and Sant Salvador Hotel).
Calas Torta, Mitjana and Estreta are great secluded sandy beaches at the end of a very bumpy track through the Serres de Llevant.
Cala Mesquida and Cala Agulla are more accessible but still maintain an unspoilt air. The water here is crystal clear.
