Son Brull epitomises the recent growth of quality, design-led hotels on Mallorca. Opened in July 2003, this ultra chic hotel & spa has already been reviewed by Wallpaper Magazine and offers directions to the hotel by yacht and helicopter (together with the more conventional modes of transport!).
The Suau Family have meticulously transformed this once century old monastery into a sleek and stylish place to stay in the north part of the island. Ignasi Forteza, a young Mallorcan designer, and his team have created a hotel with cutting edge design whilst retaining the monastery’s calm serene atmosphere. These qualities, combined with a high level of personal service create a truly unique experience.
Its twenty three rooms are all different but all follow the same contemporary style, with vanguard décor and state of the art technology. Some of the luxuries found in each room include jacuzzis, king size beds, high speed internet connection and satellite TV with DVD player.
The hotel’s restaurant, named 365 (Son Brull was once known as 'the house with 365 windows'), is overlooked by Juan Marc Garcias, a young Mallorcan chef with experience in some of Spain's finest kitchens. Food, based on modern and historic local recipes, is served in the chic restaurant or al fresco poolside - an area of spacious wood decked terraces leading to a large infinity pool.
Son Brull is all about luxury, quality and service. The hotel is happy to arrange any activity from hiking to horse riding and hot air ballooning to helicopter flying! Guests also receive substantial discounts on green fees at the two local golf courses (one of which is designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr & Sr and overlooks the Bay of Alcudia from every fairway).
The Spa provides excellent treatments with a unique Mallorcan twist. A wide range of treatments are available including Hydrotherapy, Geothermal therapy, different massages, peelings, manicure & pedicure, Sauna, Turkish Bath, Jacuzzi, Meditation and Tai Chi. If you are interested in using the Spa or receiving more information please mention this on the enquiry form.
23 Rooms in total: Superior Room, Deluxe Room, Junior Suite, Deluxe Room with Terrace, Junior Suite with Terrace. The bedrooms are spacious, light-filled rooms with contemporary design and views of the surrounding countryside. All rooms feature the following: Air conditioning & individual heating, king size beds, sheets and pillows “a la carte”, safe with plug to load your laptop, B&O television & DVD, B&O sound system in the bath room, 3 phones and direct ADSL internet connection, jacuzzi and separate huge shower, quality toiletries, hairdryer, large selection of bath room amenities.
On reservation, directions will be sent to you. Located a few kilometres from Pollenca, Son Brull is about a 45 minutes easy drive from Palma airport.
Pollenca old town is another 2 or 3 kilometres up the road. This is an ancient town where a maze of pleasant narrow streets leads to a vast main square full of tasteful café and restaurant terraces. North of the main square is the impressive Calvary Hill, 365 stone steps lined with cypress trees leading to a hilltop pilgrimage chapel. The views from the top look out across the town towards the coast and are certainly worth the hike!
Port de Pollenca is an attractive, laid back resort on a sweeping horseshoe bay. The bay has a long sandy beach to the south, a picturesque harbour in the centre and a pleasant pine walk to the north. The Port is relatively quiet and has a more refined atmosphere than a typical resort.
The small secluded resort of Cala Sant Vicenc sits in the north east corner of the island. It is a relaxed place with two sheltered sandy bays and a rocky cove set against a rugged cliff backdrop. Surrounding the bays is a mix of hotels, restaurants and shops offering everything for a chilled out beach break!
For breathtaking scenery head towards Cap de Formentor. Once the winding roads have been navigated there are several viewpoints from which to admire the dramatic coastline. Further along is the exclusive Hotel Formentor sitting above one of the islands best beaches - a long stretch of golden sandy beach shaded by pine trees. The final stretch of the coastal road offers more impressive views not least at the lighthouse found at the end of the peninsular.
