Son Llado is a truly rural, family friendly experience. Built in the 17th century, this country estate has passed through generations of the Oller family to remain a working farm. The present generation, Pep and Maria, have converted outbuildings into apartments, so guests can enjoy their down-to-earth rural way of life. Surrounded by 28 acres of farm land there’s plenty to explore. A firm favourite with children are the animals – the horse, donkeys, chickens, pigs and sheep. Pep receives an annual deluge of photographs of his guests children enjoying horse & cart rides round the farm! This is a traditional and friendly Mallorquin homestead, with a laid back family atmosphere. The farm's main building is open to guests. It consists of a spacious TV lounge and a dining area, where the Ollers offer typical Mallorcan home cooked dinners. These are often prepared from the farm's own organic produce and cooked in one of the outdoor wood ovens.
For sun worshippers, Son Llado has an ample swimming pool or the island’s best beach, Es Trenc, is just 8kms away. Bikes are freely available and the area is particularly cycle friendly, with its dedicated cycle routes and endless kilometres of flat rural land.
The apartments are completely equipped with a kitchen that comprises fridge, ceramic hob, a micro wave stove, a coffee machine and all necessary dishes and cutlery to cook and set the table, as well as bed sheets and towels and is equipped with air conditioning and central heating powered by solar energy and an additional wood stove. The general room distribution, same in all the houses is: living and dining room, kitchen, sleeping rooms and bathrooms depending on size and a private terrace. All apartments have their own terrace and are located well apart from each other to allow for privacy. Apartment Volta: One double bedroom and a second bedroom as a mezzanine floor above the living room. 48sqm living space and 40 sqm private terrace. On reservation, directions will be sent to you. Located about a 35 minutes drive south from Palma airport off the road joining Palma to Santanyi. Son Llado sits on flat rural land close to the town of Campos and 6km from Es Trenc and Ses Covetes beaches.
The south has a great selection of beaches. The best beach on the island Es Trenc offers four kilometres of white sand and blue sea backed by dunes and a natural park. Platja d’es Dolc, next to Colonial de Sant Jordi, is the first of a string of attractive beaches such as Es Caragol that can be reached by foot. The most beautiful sandy coves on the island are also in this region – Cala Mondrago, Cala S’Amonia, Cala Llombards and Calo des Moro.
Set on a headland, the seaside resort of Colonial Sant Jordi is flanked on both sides by attractive sandy beaches. The town’s a bit of a maze but the best place to head for is the harbour front with it's marina and seafront restaurants. Boat trips are also available from here to Cabrera Island.
Campos is a quiet agricultural town which livens up on market day. Set in rural surroundings, it’s a friendly place with a smattering of interesting shops, restaurants and excellent bakeries.
The small sleepy town of Santanyi has become more cosmopolitan due to the insurgence of foreign buyers. Here amongst the narrow streets a mix of traditional cafes and shops can be found alongside interior design boutiques.
