Sa Vall (Son Macia)

What a lovely place!! Very peaceful and the pool is lovely. The rooms are spacious, the kitchenette quite basic but functional, lovely bathroom and all beautifully kept. Definitely worth a return visit!!

Very warm friendly welcome. Lovely, very rural setting and a beautiful apartment on the first floor. Everything was clean and well equipped, although a kettle and a proper stove would have been preferable if you like to cook. Satellite TV but no English channels, if that bothers you! Excellent place for chilling out, lovely pool, great walks. The village isn't the prettiest, but is very Spanish and has everything including a telebanco and internet access. Would highly recommend

Thanks we had a lovely holiday at Sa Vall de Son Macia. The family there are very friendly and helpful and laid back. You are very much left to your own devices which we quite liked. The huge terrace we had attached to our room really made our holiday as the views were spectacular and the hotel supplied plates and cutlery so we could organize a lunch every day at the hotel rather than going out. The terrace had a table and chairs and two loungers and a clothes dryer so we had everything we needed.  Would definitely recommend the restaurant 'No He So' which is just at the entrance to the village. The staff were lovely and although they had limited English they tried really hard! When explaining an item of the menu they resorted to "mooing".

Can only repeat what others have said, that we recommend Sa Vall - lovely welcoming hosts who genuinely want to help you to enjoy yourselves; quiet rural setting but near enough to urban Manacor for supermarkets, petrol etc (10 min drive)- the pretty town of Arta is about 20 mins drive and offers some good restaurants (esp Es Passeig); not mentioned much is the great little swimming pool which is definitely not oversubscribed and includes a hammock in the shade for a quiet read or snooze; Sounds: goat bells, crickets, cats, Sights: olive, almond and lemon trees; giant cacti; lots of sun! Only minor drawback is lack of air conditioning in rooms but not a major problem once acclimatised. Tip: if you go into the main house (reception) there is local info re: eating out, activities etc. Only discovered this when we checked out!

Thanks so much for organising our requested room at Sa Vall. It was our fourth visit and it was as enjoyable and as relaxing as ever. The family are so welcoming, always. The standard has remained high and at such excellent value for money. It truly is a special place. We found the local supermarket to be as well stocked as we remembered with everything you could need for a stay so nearby. We ate in the square every night between the two restaurants and felt both had greatly improved since our last visit.

Wonderful holiday. Sa Vall was everything we read in other reviews and more. The owners were so kind; the apartment was spotless; pool towels included; bottle of local wine on arrival. We loved every minute of our stay and will recommend it to friends. We really relaxed and found that side of the island unspoilt and peaceful. The pool was excellent and we quite often had it to ourselves. We returned feeling relaxed and refreshed.

The Sa Vall de Son Macia is a beautiful 16th Century farmhouse - with a resident cat. The family are very friendly and speak little English. We stayed in an apartment which was spacious and very well equipped - complete with coffee filters and a coffee machine etc. They had even provided some washing up liquid. There were sufficient towels provided as well, and it was clean and well maintained. The affinity pool is wonderful and we often found ourselves the only ones by the pool. Sun loungers, sun shades and a hammock are available. The breakfast is continental - local sausage, croissants, pan au chocolat, bread, cheese etc. In the apartment, we catered for ourselves. There is no facility for dinner offered by Sa Vall, so you have to go to the local village (Son Macia - 5 mins on foot), or drive to the other villages. That was the only downside - very little opportunity for eating out in the local village, meaning a drive down country roads to other towns/villages. Son Macia does have a couple of shops and little cafes so you can get all your provisions, including the local speciality, Ensaimaida - a must! The area, although completely rural, seems to cater for the German market - so we felt a lack of authentic Spain in our visit - although this wasn't necessarily reflected in the hotel (apart from the guests), just the local area.

Blissful ten days at this authentic farmhouse, family very friendly and
helpful, even boiling water in a pan was all part of the chilling out. Village a convenient 10 min walk away with good restaurants and bank and supermarket. A relaxing experience and look forward to repeating it soon.

10/10 Superb location, spotlessly clean, authentic accommodation set in the
old stable buildings; tranquil days spent by the pool, the family are obliging but the whole place is very laid back and one is left very much to do their own thing. Breakfast outside on the front of the farmhouse is excellent. Overall a brilliant place to spend time chilling out. The village is a 10 min walk away with two good local restaurants serving authentic
cuisine.

The Sa Vall was by far our favourite place to stay. The family who run the
agrotourismo were very hospitable and made us feel very welcome. They
provided lots of insight into the local areas and gave us tips of beaches/ restaurants and landmarks we would not have encountered as they were not
frequented by many tourists. The room was clean, of a good size with mini
fridge and a terrace big enough for a table/chairs and sun loungers. The
breakfast was delicious and there was plenty to choose from. We would
definitely stay at this hotel again. We are at present considering returning
for a week at the end of May/beginning of June 2008.

10/10 We felt so lucky to have stayed here - it was perfect! We loved
everything about it... the room, the terrace, the views, the location, the
fact all you could hear was the jangling sheep-bells. We would go back
tomorrow. Bliss.

We spent 10 nights in the lovely Sa Vall and were well taken care of. The
location is handy for a very pleasant beach called Caja Romantica and the
local village of Son Macia has 2 eateries and a well equipped supermarket.
This is a place to come to if you are looking for a peaceful, lazy holiday.
You will be surrounded by olive groves and citrus trees, a beautiful garden
set in a very pretty valley.

Excellent hotel and lovely hosts. Our flight was not until 11 at night and
they gave us the key to another room and allowed us to stay for free. Would

10/10. We always felt that there must be another side to Mallorca other than the tourist resorts and Sa Vall has restored our faith that it does indeed exist! What a beautiful place - fantastic views and a lovely pool. Very friendly family and excellent breakfasts. Our apartment was spotless and the private terrace perfect.

Our stay at Sa Vall was something else. What a superb place. So quiet apart from the sheep bells but that added to the wonder. Rooms were great. Certainly big enough and probably more spacious than I imagined from the web site photo shots. Only comment I would make is that we would have found an electric kettle more than useful (rather than boiling water in a pan on the hot ring). The family at Sa Vall were superb, very welcoming and could not be more helpful. No request was too much trouble. It was good to know before we arrived that English was not understood by mum and dad but their daughters made up for them and anyway we were asked to "mimic" what we wanted to say to great amusement. Their hospitality was of the highest level and they went out of their way to ensure we always had our privacy. In concluding I would have no hesitation in recommending to anyone this wonderful set-up, indeed other family members are planning a visit !!! No doubt we will also return. Thank you for facilitating a wonderful experience.

Solid 10/10! Absolutely perfect in every way. The hotel is perfect and the staff is even better. This was THE perfect spot for a family vacation. Forget Alcudia, Palma Nova, or Magaluf-come to the east side and REALLY enjoy this island. The best family vacation I have had to date! Thank YOU Sa Vall !

We had the most lovely long w/e at this rural retreat in the eastern agricultural area of Majorca. The owners were so helpful and caring and we enjoyed being the only people beside the beautiful pool, surrounded by the noise of jangling bells around the sheep's necks. The living area in the 2 bed apartment was small but functional and we spent most of our time on our lovely private terrace. We would give it a 9/10.

We had a magical time - all the more special because we were the only people there.  We loved the apartment and could not have asked for more friendly hosts - the Spanish/English dictionary worked excellently, along with a lot of miming!! What fun.

My husband and I honeymooned on Mallorca, and Sa Vall was the first and best place we stayed. The atmosphere was relaxing, the hosts were friendly, and the apartment was comfortable and spacious. I wish we could have stayed there the entire trip!

We would re-iterate comments made by previous guests. Expect a warm welcome and comfortable accommodation. This is probably how Mallorcan tourism was 30 years ago before the cynical approach to tourists appeared. The breakfast was very typically Mallorcan and very good value. Llorenc seems very proud of his beaches!

We had a fantastic stay at Sa Vall De Son Macia. The apartment was perfect for our needs with plenty of room for 2 adults and 2 children. The pool was beautiful and we had it to ourselves most of the time. Llorenc and Theresa could not be more friendly. Though they speak no English and we speak no Spanish we managed to get by. It is certainly worth asking Llorenc to show you the way to his favourite beaches - almost deserted and very beautiful. Son Macia is a small village off the beaten track where there are 2 fine restaurants in the square. The food is simple but very good value - 6 euro for the set menu with a bottle of rose thrown in - a long way from the tourist spots.

Your website certainly lives up to its name - we were definitely in The other Majorca! We would consider a return trip next year.

Excellent all the way thru. 9 out of 10. The only thing that would have made the stay a 10 would have been if the owners spoke English. One person did but she was only available the first night. Besides that our stay was fantastic!

Fantastic. We had a great time and we don't have anything negative to say about the accommodation or the location. It was away from all the hustle of the big resorts but near enough if we wanted to go there, (we didn't much). We can't stress enough though how kind and friendly the owners were and would like to stress how much we loved it there and will certainly be back one day.

We thought Sa Vall was lovely - a beautiful, peaceful setting, tastefully decorated apartment and great
swimming pool.  Also, the Spanish family who run it were very friendly and didn't appear tourist-tired.  I would probably advise people staying there to hire a
car as the local town and beaches are a bit of a trek away.
