Tucked away in the heart of Deia, the charming and relaxed S'Hotel D'es Puig is a unique find in this popular picture postcard village. This small intimate hotel has played host for more than a century to a long line of writers, artists and more recently, travel guidebook enthusiasts. Sitting on a pretty cobbled street of honey-stone townhouses, D'es Puig has only eight guest bedrooms (four at the front and four at the back), and a large Penthouse Suite with private terrace, which commands the whole of the top floor. The showpiece of this charming place is the sun-filled terrace areas and inviting swimming pool at the back of the hotel. Stunning scenery surrounds the garden and it's the perfect spot to enjoy a leisurely breakfast, a lazy afternoon or a relaxing drink in the evening. Picturesque Deia is renowned for it's quaint cobbled streets, glorious views and well heeled residents. For those fancying a dip in the sea, there’s a charming shingle cove with beach bar about 1.5km from the hotel. Or guests can further explore the sea and dramatic coast by heading one way to Valldemossa, and the other way, to Soller.
One minute walk from the hotel, D'es Puig also offers a converted townhouse with four two bedroom apartments. Each apartment is simply furnished with two bedrooms (one double and one twin), and a separate living room with kitchenette. Guests can enjoy use of the hotel's pool and Wifi.

Set at the end of the scenic mountain steam train ride from Palma, Soller is a small, elegant and arty town. Surrounded by breathtaking scenery with mountains on all sides, the centre is a mix of picturesque narrow cobbled streets and a large leafy square. The square is a great place to enjoy a relaxing coffee, admire Gaudi's imposing church and watch the ancient tram rattle down to the nearby Port.
Deia is a magical place inhabited by artists, writers and the wealthy. The writer Robert Graves is famed for living here. The village sits strikingly on a hillside between the rising mountains and the sea. The village has a laid back bohemian feel with a selection of good restaurants and bars. Just a 20 minute walk from the village is a pebbled beach cove with a charming bar which provides a good place to swim and relax in a dramatic setting.
The picture postcard villages of Fornalutx and Biniaraix are immaculate ancient places set in a dramatic landscape. Both villages sit under the Tramuntana mountains highest peak, the Puig de Mayor, and provide an excellent base for hikers. Fornalutx is slightly larger with a good smattering of restaurants and bars.
Walking/Hiking - This area is ideal if you enjoy walking or hiking. The Tramuntana mountain range is a hiker's paradise and good local walks are detailed in the Sunflower Edition 'Landscapes of Mallorca' or 'Mallorca Mountains'. Many walks begin at Fornalutx or Biniaraix and you are soon into the mountains with magnificent scenery.
Just a couple of kilometres away, the Port de Soller can be reached by a quaint tram from Soller. This is a low-key seaside resort, with a small sandy beach and plenty of boats to take you up the coast to visit pretty Cala Tuent and the breathtaking Torrent de Pareis. The trip to these remote attractions is becoming very popular and it's possibly best to go in spring or autumn.
Valldemossa is set at the top of a picturesque valley. The highlight here is the royal monastery – the Reial Cartoixa made famous by George Sand and Frederic Chopin. Due to its close proximity to Palma, Valldemossa does attract the day trippers however the town still retains its charm and is featured on many postcards.
Gardens - About 20 minutes drive, located off the main Palma-Soller road, are the two gardens D'Alfabia and De Raixa. Both are very pleasant and peaceful for an afternoon of wandering and relaxing.
