Sitting in an idyllic peaceful setting, Son Cardaix is an impressive country estate with spacious grounds, a huge splendid pool and views all the way to the sea. Dating back to the 15th century, the imposing country house has a grandiose stature, with immense double vaulted rooms, generous and comfortable suites, and a deluge of charming features from the house's historical past.
Opened in March 2005, the estate has gone through a complete and sympathetic restoration. Exposed stone walls and beamed ceilings are complimented with dark wooden furniture, neutral furnishings and tasteful touches. The nine suites are unique, private and spacious, each with their own bedroom, living area and some have the added pleasure of a private terrace. Also inside is a comfortable living room together with an extraordinary dining area, the height of which, spans the buildings three floors.
Stepping outside is a real treat. Pretty terraces dotted with tables and chairs provide a magical setting for al fresco dining. The terraces lead through to a manicured garden, which circles a king-size swimming pool with views across the rolling countryside to the sea. Nearby, the area is ideal for golf and beach lovers. Several of the island's best golf courses and beach coves are with 10 - 15 minute drive.
6 Suites with terrace 3 Suites without terrace 1 Double All the rooms are very individual and spacious. Each suite has a living area and a double bedroom. All the suites above the ground floor have a private terrace/balcony with table and chairs, and some with sun loungers! All rooms have satellite television, mini bar, bath and/or shower.
On reservation, directions will be sent to you. Located in the countryside yet very easily accessed, Son Cardaix is within 5km of Arta and 10kms of some very good beaches and golf courses.
Arta sits against the dramatic backdrop of the rolling Serres de Llevant mountains. The town is a maze of steep alleys and streets that lead up to the hill top chapel of Santuari de Sant Salvador.
Calas Torta, Mitjana and Estreta are secluded sandy beaches at the end of a very bumpy track through the Serres de Llevant. Backed by dunes and mountains they have an unspoilt feel and are less populated because of their location.
Cala Mesquida and Cala Agulla are more accessible but still maintain an unspoilt air. The water here is crystal clear.
The east coast is dotted with numerous caves, however the best can be found at the Coves d’Arta, located on the coast about 5km southeast of Arta.
