Palacio Casa Galesa Review

Tucked down a quiet narrow street close to the impressive cathedral and seafront, five star Palacio Ca Sa Galesa is a luxurious retreat in an enviable location. Formerly a XVI century manor house, it has been transformed into an immaculate small hotel of palatial splendour and sumptuous surrounds.

Once you step inside the inconspicuous entrance, the bustle of a vibrant city is soon replaced by a refined and calming elegance. An historical courtyard acts as a through fare to various sections of the house, and provides a stone staircase up to the main communal areas. Entering here is like entering another world - high ornate ceilings, wood panelling and lavish furnishings all combine to give a genuine palatial feel.

The hall lounge is decked with tapestries, chandeliers and Mallorcan antiques, and leads through to the equally impressive dining room and kitchen area. The latter is a friendly room used every day to serve guests complimentary afternoon tea and coffee along with delicious cakes. Breakfast is served in the hotel’s spacious Café Rick, and for an afternoon tipple, there's a well stocked honesty bar next to the pretty walled outdoor patio.

A short climb to the top of the house (or via the lift!) opens out to the spacious roof terrace. Its comfortable loungers are a great place to soak up the sun and take in spectacular views of the cathedral and the sea. If guests fancy a dip, the cellar swimming pool is kept cool in summer (and warm in winter months!). The pool has a jet stream and the cellar also houses a sauna, solarium and a small gym.

With only 12 rooms and numerous communal spaces, guests can enjoy a sense of privacy combined with personalised service. Nothing is too much for the hotel to organise and they offer a long list of special services such as room service, personal pillows, newspapers, beauty treatments, along with laundry, ironing and shoe shining to ensure guests are comfortable and well looked after.

Guest Reviews

We really enjoyed our stay at this small luxury hotel. It's got lots of beautiful public rooms and areas it felt like being a guest at a lovely elegant house. Everything was to a high standard and we couldn’t fault the staff and service.
We loved staying in this small grand hotel. Great location with helpful staff. We also liked all the complimentary touches – soft drinks on the terrace and afternoon tea and cakes downstairs.
As mentioned to the hotel we would certainly recommend the hotel and its staff who form a continuous concierge service.  We make the following comments:
Location – perfect for walking and dining in Palma itself but do not recommend taking a car as the location within the old city is not easy to access and not spontaneous to leave by car.  We recommend hiring a car only for specific day out or staying in a country/beach location as well and perhaps only stay in the city for 3 or 4 days max.
Room – we had the two room duplex with private sun terrace – what more could you ask for?
Food – plenty of good restaurants etc nearby arranged by Hotel – remember to ask for cooked breakfast if you want one.
