Set in the winding streets of Old Town Palma, the luxurious Posada de Terra Santa retains all the charm of a 16th century manor house and combines it with modern day design, comforts and facilities. Discreetly tucked away, the entrance to this former Boixador barons stately home is via a tranquil and pretty courtyard that sets the calm elegant atmosphere for the whole hotel.
On the ground floor is the hotel’s beautiful La Despensa del Baron restaurant. With large gothic arches, high ceiling and stylish interiors it’s a great place to enjoy a relaxed tapas lunch or a romantic dinner. In the evenings, the restaurant focuses on using fresh local produce and creates dishes that are a real fusion of global flavours combining Mediterranean and Asian cuisine.
After exploring the vibrant Old Town, this is a place where guests can come back to and relax. The hotel has a spacious roof top terrace and pool area, decked out with comfortable loungers and chairs, and with views across the terracotta tiles to Palma and the Basiica de Sant Francesca. Drinks can be taken at any time of the day from the well-stocked honesty bar, and there’s planet of areas to unwind: amongst the large comfortable sofas of the lounge, the literary and art books of the library or the pleasant salon. Here some quirky interior touches (such as modern art and modern stag head collections) work well to give the elegant, historic space a more relaxed, slightly irreverent feel.
For pure indulgence, head to the hotels cellar, where set in the manor’s original grain store is the spa with a small pool heated to 28 degrees, sauna, treatment room and gym.
Throughout the rest of the mansion, the rooms varying from Standard doubles to the grand Barons Suite, are all light, airy and smartly furnished in neutrals and greys. All the rooms have large modern bathrooms and huge comfortable beds. Despite being well equipped with all the modern comforts and technology of today, rooms still retain the building original characteristics with wooden beams, stone pillars and carvings.
