Affordable and historical Hotel Born is situated right in the heart of Palma’s OldTown. Originally the 16th century palace of the Marquis of Ferrandell, it was restored in the 18th century to feature a typical Mallorcan interior patio. This attractive patio, dotted with huge palm trees and tables and chairs, is now the centre piece of Born and its 35 rooms.
The hotel has been modernized but still feels as though it's from a bygone age. The entrance hall echoes the building’s original grandeur as pillared arched ceilings, gleaming marble and a sweeping staircase leads up to the hotel's four floors. With such an entrance, guests may forget this is a two star budget hotel. However it is a budget hotel, so despite the setting and the traditional dark wood antiques, the en-suite rooms are simple and clean, with basic beds and furnishings. The best rooms in the hotel have large French windows looking out onto tall palm trees and the pretty patio below.
Hotel Born is a welcoming place to stay and boasts an enviable central location. Set down a quiet street, close to Palma’s sights, restaurants and shops, it’s an ideal base from which to explore the city. The impressive cathedral and stretching seafront are just a walk away. Whilst the main shopping streets of Palma are metres away, so what you save on accommodation can be spent in Camper, Zara and Loewe!

We had a really wonderful time in Mallorca and as usual all the accommodation was very special and luxurious. We felt very spoilt at all of the hotels. Hotel Born: we have stayed here quite a few times before and we really like its rather monastic and traditional feel, although the bathrooms have been improved. The courtyard garden is such a tranquil oasis even though it is now reduced to just two palm trees. We would continue staying here when we visit Palma although the room prices have escalated over the years. We always recommend The Other Mallorca to friends and thank you so much for helping us to put together this last minute break. As always Mallorca, off the beaten track, is a gem and the hotels you offer are exquisite. We will be back before long.

We had a good long weekend in Palma and this worked out to be an excellent base. Right at the top of Passeg Born we could not have been more central. From the outside, it doesn’t look very pretty but enter the hotel and you see old time glamour of the place with a courtyard in the background. Our room overlooked the courtyard so we had a nice view out and I would imagine it is the quietest part of the hotel.

This has to be one of our favourite hotels in Palma. It is not a fancy hotel (I think it is 2 star) but it used to be a palace and has all the grandeur with a grand sweeping staircase and features. Staff friendly, the buffet breakfasts were varied and good and we had some of the best coffee there.

Stay here if you want to be in the heart of Palma. Expect character, friendly atmosphere and remember the price tag!

Ten out of ten! Great location, friendly staff, traditional Mallorcan style. Good breakfast. Very good value for a room with view of the tranquil courtyard and its majestic palm trees.

We both loved the hotel with its relaxed and genteel feel. There is a lovely courtyard where breakfast is served and this was a real oasis of quiet in a busy city. It was ideally situated to explore Palma, just a few steps away from the centre. The breakfasts were really nice with high quality food and the staff so friendly and helpful. We would definitely return there again.

Visited this 2* Hotel with husband & daughter aged 7 - we had a fantastic time, we were very very impressed with what we got - hotel was excellent & room was very spacious looking onto courtyard. Staff very very helpful and friendly. Breakfast was excellent with plenty to choose from - will definitely stay there again - location was ideal, central for Cathedral etc. We loved it.

We had a great weekend in Palma. The hotel is in a great location to walk to everything but felt very quiet at night. There's no lift but the receptionist carried our luggage to the 2nd floor. We would stay again and ask for a courtyard view next time.

No complaints at all - old historical building centrally located with clean functional ensuite rooms. I would return.

We had a great stay at The Born. Within 30 mins of our plane arriving we had picked up our luggage, jumped into a taxi and arrived in Born. Our room was on the third floor - no lift - which if you're happy with stairs is worth it because you get a nice view onto the courtyard and huge palm trees. Breakfast was good and the location was the best. Rooms are simple but clean. I'd stay again unless my boss gives me a pay rise and then I'd go for one of the swankier places your site is showing!
