Es Cabas, an ancient property of Arabic origin is full of character and located just 15 minutes drive from Palma. Centuries old architectural elements, many of them listed features, have been beautifully preserved alongside the modern additions to make this a comfortable place to stay. Guests can step back in time and wander round the preserved old medieval lime kilns, the coal house and the olive mills to gain a glimpse of daily rural life in the old Sierra de Tramuntana area of Mallorca.
The current owners are slowly awaking Es Cabas and sharing this rural idyllic with guests. The farm harvests wheat, which in turn is ground in a stone mill and used for the production of ecological bread and pastry. The orchards produce almonds, carobs, oranges, figs, olives and other native fruits. The olives are pressed and bottled at the property, and are already gaining a reputation around the island. During the Arabic occupation of Mallorca, Es Cabas was a huge wine producer and the owners have reintroduced with the old local grape variety. For wildlife lovers, wild and domesticated animals such as the red kite buzzard, known as the milana proliferate in the crop areas, while the Majorcan goat, donkeys, cows, black pigs and sheep can be found on the farm.
