Son Palou is a peaceful paradise with 150 hectares of olive groves, apple and cherry orchards, woods, mountains and even a waterfall! Set on the edge of the ancient hillside hamlet of Orient, this charming 14th century hotel has stunning views across the unspoilt picturesque valley.
The 600 year old buildings have been tastefully renovated to retain original features (including the sizeable olive press!), and offer an abundance of peace and tranquillity. All rooms are very welcoming and have been individually decorated with Mallorcan antiques, solid wood furnishings and crisp cotton. Dining at the house is a treat. The food is prepared from local produce (sometimes from the surrounding land) and served in a spacious dining area which spills out at the back of the house onto a stone arched patio and a cobbled courtyard, providing a perfect setting for a long leisurely breakfast or dinner.
The friendly Colom family are the original owners of the property, and also own a fifth of the magical Vale d’Orient (their grandfather owned the whole valley!). They are always happy to share any information about the picturesque surroundings, and also offer guidance on local walking and cycle routes (mountain bikes are freely available). If your aim is to conserve energy, the hotel’s spacious gardens and infinity pool are an ideal place to relax and unwind. The gardens have been immaculately landscaped with plenty of shaded areas dotted with comfortable loungers, and the pool sits in a secluded position on the edge of the garden with impressive views down the spectacular valley.
